It is allowed without permission from the copyright holder to show or play audio(visual) works for teaching purposes on a non-profit basis, either in part or its entirety. There are several requirements:

  • The purpose must be educational and must be part of the curriculum.
  • The work must be shown or played directly, either in a classroom environment on campus or in a secure digital learning environment only accessible to its target audience of staff and students.
  • When a lecture during which the (audio)visual work is shown or played is being recorded, the showing or playing of the work must be removed from the recording.

No copy or recording of the audio(visual) work may be placed in the electronic learning environment without the permission of the copyright holder.
